Developing your Business Model: How to Communicate Effectively with Investors
Business models are essential to communicating effectively with investors and ensuring their financial support. By defining your customer, value proposition, impact, and the underlying economic logic behind your enterprise, investors will see you have put the thought and work needed to guarantee the success of your business. However, developing a business plan is not easy. More often than not, organizations get bogged down in details and excessive language; leaving investors bored, overwhelmed, and not wanting to invest much needed funds.
The Development Marketplace, in collaboration with GSBI, has developed this e-learning course to introduce social entrepreneurs and NGOs to developing and implementing inclusive and successful business models. Through seven easy-to-understand lessons, entrepreneurs will be guided through the difficult process of defining their mission, describing their value proposition and competitive advantage, understanding social impact, illustrating the economics of their business, planning their marketing, sales, and distribution, and considering their business structure. These lessons will provide grantees with the necessary tools to develop a business model that will inspire and excite investors.
